Jay Gatsby- Luke
Analyze a character
Mr. Gatsby , as referred by the characters thus far, is a very mysterious person. Little is known, or mentioned yet, but I believe that this is a pre cursor to something extraordinary about him. Given the title of the book is named after him, it is safe to say that he has an important role in the story. But as of now, he is a secluded man who only watches from his windows of his house, and comes out once to stare at the green light across the channel. The only thing here is that there is a little bit of an excitement about his name. When mentioned Daisy asks sporadically,"Gatsby? What Gatsby"(Fitzgerald 11)? I personally believe that this is something that will transpire into something with Daisy and Mr. Gatsby. Finally, as for now, Mr. Gatsby remains a suspenseful mystery that I believe will soon be figured out.
I agree. Gatsby has a way of being mysterious, and it makes you wonder what role he will play in the novel. After reading chapter three, you can tell that out of the large amount of people that attend his parties every weekend, none of them know anything at all about Gatsby. There are multiple rumors about him and that amazing things that people say he has done, but no one knows if any of those crazy things are true. One rumor was that he killed a man, but no one knows him well enough to ask him. No one can talk about what he is actually like because he is so mysterious. Why is he so mysterious? I believe that is does have something to do with Daisy because Nick had very little contact with Daisy until he moved to New York. Why is Gatsby so "great"? Is it because he has hug parties every weekend with everything someone could want at a party? Is it because of his money? I am excited to find out more about him.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Olivia. In chapter three everyone is suspicious of him. Why is Jay Gatsby throwing all of these parties? Is this his way of trying to get rid of the rumors? Why did the rumors even start? What did he do to provoke them, besides for being secluded at times? I would also like to know what he talked to Jordyn Baker about. There are many questions left unanswered that will hopefully be answered in due time.
